Many new faces, new friendships and fresh inspirations made up the story of the fundraising dinner.
The 2019 Chinese Dinner event was a tremendous success! All tickets were sold out and in the end, two additional tables had to be set up to accommodate the overflow. In a packed house new friendships were forged, lively conversations took place and the fine cuisine of Victoria Chinese Restaurant was enjoyed by all.
At one table a couple from Hong Kong who were unfamiliar with CRCC were astonished to find out that the spiritual activities that will be held at Copper Ridge are entrusted to Opus Dei. Upon realizing this, the wife said, “This is so interesting. A friend of mine in Hong Kong recently told me that I should get in contact with Opus Dei and look for a specific person” (whom she named). A lady at the table responded, “Your friend must have been praying for you and that is why you are here tonight! The person you were told about is also here and I will introduce you to her!” The introduction was made and at the end of the evening the lady made a contribution to CRCC.
Many people at the dinner were first time attendees. Of these, two ladies signed up for the retreat that was to take place at Loon Lake the following weekend; first CRCC dinner, first retreat.
Elizabeth Boyd gave a heartfelt presentation on the conference centre project, beginning with the initial purchase of the property. Accompanied by a fascinating slide show, we saw all the phases of construction up until today when the project is nearing completion. The presentation underscored the determination and the generosity of all those who are helping bring the project to its much anticipated opening, March 2020. Check out the visual progress on the site here. We look forward to all the amazing stories you will tell of your experiences at Copper Ridge very soon!
